Property Description

Set in the heart of Port Isaac, this converted 18th-century net loft, set above a shop, has been fully and lovingly restored by the owner, interior designer and television presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. There are sea and harbour views from the kitchen, living room, bathroom and one of the three bedrooms. The holiday property has been featured in many interior design magazines and has a comfortable, stylish and unique charm. Many of the soft furnishings and fittings are from Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s design ranges. It is situated at the very heart of this immensely popular lively village, featured in the TV drama Doc Martin, and is a stone’s throw from the beach, shops and restaurants. Port Isaac lies on the famous South West Coastal Path and has cliff walks with stunning views across the Atlantic. The sandy surfing beaches (ideal for family holidays) of Polzeath to the west and Trebarwith Strand to the east are within ¼ mile. Also close by are many of the tourist attractions that the north coast has to offer including Boscastle, Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur and Padstow, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous fish restaurant. From here the ferry can be taken across to Rock with its shops, restaurants and bars. In the centre of Padstow bikes can be hired to cycle the Camel Trail (a disused railway line along the Camel Estuary where an abundance of birdlife can be seen), to Wadebridge and then all the way to Bodmin. Also worth a visit is Bodmin Moor which is a short drive away. This is unspoilt moorland at its best, with streams, tors, historic earth works and moorland hamlets, as well as the renowned Jamaica Inn, the setting for the Daphne Du Maurier novel. Shops and pub 10 yards.

Seven steps to entrance (no rail). Well-equipped kitchen/dining room with multi-fuel burner and harbour views. Upper ground floor: Living room with wooden floor. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed and TV. Bunk bedroom (for +2 children). Bathroom with toilet. Eight steep, narrow steps up to double bedroom with 5ft low bed and low sloping ceilings.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Perfect location, lovely decor. We’ve been back twice we love it so much! Aug 2011.
  2. The cottage was very opulent and it was lovely to stay there, especially as we have a dog and it is pet friendly. There was little or no tourist information in the cottage so we were left to our own devices as to the best restaurants, pubs etc, however we did find them! On a minor note it is the only pet friendly cottage we have stayed at where there wasn’t any form of welcome pack, despite it being in the higher end bracket cost wise. All in all a lovely place to stay right in the heart of the village. I think it could get very crowded upstairs if six people stayed - there were only two of us and it was nice and cosy. June 2011.
  3. Superb location with harbour views in an idyllic village. Combines the charm of the historic building with exciting contemporary decor. Lots of yummy options for eating out on the doorstep but the fantastic kitchen made eating in a treat too! Sept 2010.
  4. Excellent location to watch the world go by. Aug 2010.
  5. Homely, stylish and welcoming. Sept 2009.
